Deployment day is always stressful for a team. Wrapping up tasks, clearing final bugs, and getting everything just right has everyone on high alert. Then, shock, travesty, an unsuspected environment difference makes an afternoon of work an evening. There has to be a better way right? Luckily, there is! DevOps!

So after a long hiatus I decided to update this site and post a few new tutorials around what I’d been learning lately. However, when I went to rebuild the site with the latest Jekyll packages the site would not build. Turns out that something in Jekyll v3.3.0 and the jekyll-auto-image v1.1.2 don’t play nice together and the build process crashes. Bummer!

As 2016 dawns I finally have my build/deploy pipeline working to a degree that I feel comfortable with. A new post to this blog is now just a git commit away and my CI server builds the site to toss into nginx.

Social metadata can be annoying to set up, but with a good template and a small Jekyll plugin you can have your pages social ready in minutes.
